Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
