Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
