Just as bad weather swept through the north-west the previous evening, the home side blew United aside at the Etihad. It was a performance that clearly signaled their title credentials as they reinforced their place at the league summit.

Successive Defeats for United

Former Manchester City player Park came most likely to score, hitting the upright, but the away team were lacking in ideas and were unable to produce a one shot on goal.

The hosts, on the other hand, could have extended their cushion when a delightful Miedema through ball sent Shaw away only for her to fluff her lines but it mattered little to the hosts. Previously unable to beat any team who finished above them the previous campaign, the manager's side now have wins against Arsenal and United to put them in a strong situation after nine matches.
