This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a current administration.
“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future without fear.”
The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six seven” – originating from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.
A New Life
The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”
Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
