Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden championship series after 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Behind 3-1, the star outfielder hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, our country," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, making him third all-time after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person in the world that I'd choose in that moment besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's painful" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he remarked.

Toronto secured the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
